Letter: Media, progressives are to blame for rift in America

Journalists in the national media simply refuse to ask President-elect Joe Biden tough questions regarding taxes, guns or his dealings in China via his son Hunter. Papers, including the Herald, continue to run anti-Trump and anti-Trump voter editorials and cartoons from national syndicated columnists. While I believe that there were countless election irregularities in blue states, even if these were corrected, I doubt if the results would change.

My real concern is the nasty vitriol from progressives that continues to appear in comments sections of online publications, letters to the editor and social media toward anyone who doesn’t agree with their point of view. And, to some extent, the media seems to encourage this discourse.

Finally, while progressives refused to accept the election of Trump, most conservatives I know acknowledge that our side lost the battle and are ready to move on. If the nation is to come together and heal the rift created by the progressives, the media must play a part by refraining from pouring alcohol on the flames of discourse.
