Letter: Sen. Don Coram confuses on Colorado Water Plan

I was completely confused by Sen. Donr Coram’s long editorial on March 27, in which he says, “Despite all the information gathered, the Colorado Water Plan has never been really implemented.”

He infers there are divisive party politics thwarting his bill.

When I investigated, however, I found web pages for the last several years titled, “Colorado Water Plan Grants” with five categories – Agriculture, Conservation & Land Use, Engagement & Innovation, Environment & Recreation and Water Storage & Supply. Each had long lists of applications with notations of those projects approved.

It seems this program is indeed being administered and projects are being granted funding.

Therefore I wish Coram would have demonstrated how his bill differs from what is already in process and why it is better and necessary. That way we could have decided if his annoyed comparison with other bills was well founded.
