I am John Dunn and a native of Durango.
I worked at Mercy Hospital as an ambulance driver and orderly for five years. I then spent the next 25 years working as a firefighter and captain for Durango Fire Department and Durango Fire and Rescue Authority. you may also know me as a 28-year veteran of the Purgatory Ski Patrol. Many of you recognize me as owner of Dunn Deal Resale Store.
However, I am not the John Dunn who has been responding to the editorial pages of The Durango Herald. That person is a namesake. I have not seen his comments and cannot deny or concur that I agree with them, but they are not mine.
I have a long history and have been blessed by working alongside many incredible people here. These experiences and my years in the community have enriched my life and left me with an appreciation for the richness of this area, its people and businesses.
I am the John Dunn who is grateful for friends, family, community and our community health.
If I write a comment, I will identify myself clearly, since there is more than one John Dunn in Durango.
