Letter: What is Trump’s legacy besides coining “fake news?”

The New York Post advised Trump to concede the election to Biden. There was no fraud, the Post said, and it was time to accept the election result or the Trump legacy would be seriously damaged.

That raises the question of what is the Trump legacy? It seems that it consists mostly of thousands of lies all confirmed by newspapers across the country, including papers of record and some at the world-class level. His legacy is “fake news” and “the media is the enemy.” It includes a disgracefully fumbled coronavirus response.

It also includes several million voters who somehow approve of his corona response, his dealings with Russia, China, North Korea, Turkey and the economy. They furthermore seem to believe that economic success in America is fully dependent on stock market performance. His audiences approved loudly of his “how is your 401(k) doing?” Although I wonder just how many of those people hold 401(k)s or even know what they are.

Internationally we are no longer looked to as a world leader (in a media review he had the gall to claim that our pandemic response was the “envy of the world”). This so-called legacy includes referring to the military as “suckers and losers.” And now Trump is wringing hundreds of millions out of his base to defend and rectify his election loss. Talk about suckers and losers.

Trump’s legacy? the worst president in America’s history.
