Letter writer knows nothing about case

In response to Naomi Beans’ letter (Herald, July 9):

Telling the mother of a boy, whose remains were found on Middle Mountain, later to be ruled a homicide, to “move on with life” is not only a disgusting and shameful thing to say, but the local business owner should perhaps brush up on the basic facts of this case. (And, yes, this is, indeed, a case, and Elaine Hatfield has a strong one.)

First, Dylan, whom she refers to as “the kid,” was not 14. He was 13 when he was taken from this earth. Second, as a minor in the care of his father, the elder Redwine most certainly had the duty to provide proper parental care.

Last, the Walmart visit was the evening Dylan landed in Durango. The father went to see his lawyer (how apropos) on the morning Dylan “could not be awakened” to join him. So no, Dylan didn’t decide not to go.

There are a number of reasons as to why that is, the first being he had already been murdered. Has Beans read nothing on this case? Or, has she more information on the case that perhaps the lead investigator should be questioning her on since she seems to be an expert?

Before discussing what she considers “laughable,” she should have thought about what the damage she is doing to a family that has already suffered an immeasurable loss and what that classless letter has done to a mother of a murdered boy. Whether she believes that man is involved in this case or not is her opinion.

She has no respect for Elaine? Beans has lost the respect of a number of people in this community. Perhaps she was also on the side of O.J. Simpson when Nicole’s family didn’t seem to want to “move on with their lives” and filed a similar suit.
