Letter writer needs to check the facts

In response to Todd Patterson’s letter (Herald, Nov. 10) letter, I’d like to state my opinion and share a few facts, besides asking people to stop drinking the Fox News Kool-Aid.

Contrary to Patterson’s statement, Obama didn’t have an open border policy. Everyone coming into the U.S. is vetted more thoroughly than ever. Of course, there are people who sneak in.

I am sure Patterson wants Trump’s wall. He might be surprised by Pew Research Center’s March 2 study that says the number of Mexican immigrants living in the U.S. illegally has declined by over 1 million since 2007.

Yes, more illegal immigrants are leaving the U.S. than entering.

The biggest terrorist attacks in the U.S. are committed by Americans, not sneaky foreigners. I have to remind him of the 58 Americans killed in Las Vegas in October, the 49 in Orlando in June 2016, and the 28 in Sandy Hook in December 2012, not to mention the other horrific mass shootings.

I understand the criticism for Hillary; some of it is justifiable and some of it unfounded, but could I ask the Fox News crowd to move on, to stop using her and Obama as foils for Trump’s performance.

Trump is now. Let’s work together to solve today’s problems and stop the belly-aching over our past politicians. Maybe we can get together, after all, and as Americans in this great country tell our president to stop lying so much.

Sorry, I had to add that.
