I have sympathy for people who resent the mask mandate. I really bristle being told what to do or what I should believe. But this idea that our rights are being unfairly taken away or that our freedom is being “violated” seems (to me) mistaken.
Rights and freedoms in America have been set and defended by government over time. They are not unchangeable. By design they can be modified by the people – or their representatives.
So when York says that, “We cannot mandate all (people) to wear (masks),” I think she is mistaken. By the very nature of laws and rules and government, we do have that right.
My right is to vote out the people who make laws I don’t like and vote in people who will make “better” choices.
The “Love thy neighbor” “law,” by the way, I fully support, and hope that I am following it to the best of my ability even in this response.
