As a twice-elected mayor of Durango, I am honored to have many extremely qualified candidates seeking to fill my term-limited seat on City Council.
Having listened to all of the candidates and interacted with several during my time on council, I feel compelled to offer the following endorsements.
My opinion varies from the Herald’s in that I don’t support candidates with recent felony offenses. That said, I support the continued efforts of Melissa Youssef as the only institutional knowledge base left on council; Frank Lockwood for his broad understanding of legal, technical and financial issues of the city; and Jessika Buell for her tenacious interest in representing young families in Durango.
These individuals collectively provide the critical combination of voices to move Durango in the right direction on each of the broad range of critical issues to advance the quality of life we enjoy in Durango.
