Letters: A bright, loud spot amidst the pandemic

About 9:30 yesterday morning, I began to hear lots of car horns honking on north Main Avenue, just a block away. It sounded similar to the old custom of honking after a wedding. I wondered what could possibly be the explanation for all that noise in this bleak and silent time.

Soon, the honking got closer, and as I looked out the window, here came a parade of about 30 cars honking and driving slowly right down our street!

They were decorated with signs, streamers and messages written on the windows. The messages were things like, “We wish you well,” “You are not alone,” “We love you,” etc.

Kids and adults waved, flashed signs and paper hearts and gave thumbs-up signals!

And then the procession turned our corner and snaked back to Main Avenue. What a bright spot in my day!

I wonder just what group of thoughtful people is responsible for this joy squad.

Whoever you are, thank you!
