The rest of the country has been opening up as the coronavirus outbreak eases. But Durango is very slow to react and the local economy is suffering. The health officials and other local authorities who are making the decisions are still getting paid, but the people who really need the work and income are not.
During the past few weeks, the virus situation has improved with the rate of new infections coming down to 1.5% per day for the U.S. as a whole and to 1% for Colorado. Despite the evidence of there being less of a problem in our county, we still lag the rest of the country in removing restrictions such as masks and opening up the economy. Remove our people from bondage!
