I am disappointed to learn about the current directive from the 9-R superintendent banning the wearing of clothing affirming human rights statements, in particular, Black Lives Matter. Those who wear clothing making values statements are advocating increased tolerance. Any branding is powerful and might be controversial, whether it is a Patagonia label or a sports team logo. Instead of worrying about T-shirts, might it be more educational to focus on the history that brought forth the creation of the movement for Black lives? Please dig deeper and rethink this decision.
