Letters: Bridge is unneeded and may not work

Please do not build the pedestrian bridge over 32nd Street (a bridge over a bridge).

Is it primarily for road cyclists?

Even though a lot of work has been done, cut your losses and build it somewhere that makes more sense. People will go out of their way to avoid it.

I speak from experience; people are lazy. People won’t walk up an incline if they can avoid it. Putting in fencing to force them to will create angst (again, experience).

Pedestrian crossings can sit atop humps (like at many airports). Fluorescent flashing lights could be suspended over the roadway and recessed into the hump in addition to the sides of the road. The crossing at 15th Street works well. With more lights and possibly a hump for a new crosswalk for 32nd, it could be safe until a bridge is necessary, in a different location.
