Charly Minkler spent four years on the County Planning Commission drafting the new Land Use Code. He was on the front line writing the code. He spoke many times in support of the code and the process for developing it. But at the very last minute, when it was too late for changes, he suddenly and unexpectedly voted against it. Could his about-face be a result of a large campaign donation, or the influence of his campaign manager, formerly of Koch Brothers’ Americans for Prosperity? Or is he just fickle?
Another example of not being trustworthy is his chameleon party affiliation. He was a Republican for ages. Fine, if that’s your value system, claim it. He then switched to a right-wing party. Again, fine, if that’s your value system, claim it. But in this run for county commissioner, he’s suddenly unaffiliated, with no ideological leanings. No way. That’s trickery to get elected in a county where the GOP chair said no Republican can win.
Sorry, Charly. We’re not falling for it. We want a commissioner who stands for something, and that’s Matt Salka, with a history of bipartisan work and collaboration.
