Letters: Council should leave the healthy alone

Look at today’s San Juan Basin Public Health numbers and assume the county population is 60,000: 72 positive tests is one per 833 people. Ten hospitalized is one per 6,000 people. Zero deaths. As far as I can tell, the trend is downward.

So where is the emergency? How long will this City Council mask-wearing order last? When will there be a public hearing before the council acts?

If you want to wear a mask, do it. If you’re sick or at risk, stay home – but please, City Council, leave the rest of us alone.

This will only drive more people to online shopping and hurt the local economy further.
