The Postal Service is a vital part of the U.S. health care system. Disruptions will create barriers to care. A recent survey found nearly 24% of respondents depend on the mail for medications during the pandemic. Despite the decision to suspend the scaling back of postal services, it doesn’t solve the problem of a system that lacks capacity now. Many patients don’t have the luxury of time.
The Postal Service was not designed to be profitable. It was designed for all Americans. I share an appreciation for building more efficiency into mail delivery, but that’s not what’s happening here, and these changes are harming our families and our health. Please call our members of congress to demand Postal Service funding now, not later.
