Letters: Deny hospital treatment to protesters

Some people have claimed that the Constitution gives them the right to not wear a mask in public during the current, nationwide COVID-19 epidemic, as directed by the City Council.

I propose that these people compose a petition that explains their claims and intentions not to comply with the city’s directive, and to ask those who agree with it to sign it. The petition should then be given to the hospital. The hospital will then have the right to deny treatment for the virus to signers of the petition.

We all understand that doctors and nurses are working under dangerous and exhausting conditions trying to save the lives of those who are infected with the virus. I believe that they should not be asked to risk their lives treating people who have self-inflicted infections.
