As a pediatric physical therapist in Durango for over 30 years, I have witnessed the exclusion of health care coverage by insurance companies to children who were born with pre-existing medical conditions. This created severe emotional and financial hardship for their families. In 2010, the Affordable Care Act became law and made it illegal for insurance companies to deny coverage for pre-existing conditions. Over the past four years, President Trump and Sen. Cory Gardner have pushed to repeal the ACA with no replacement plan. Now they say they will protect pre-existing conditions. Don’t be fooled.
