Letters: Editorial is cheap, lazy and defamatory

Even by recent standards, the Herald’s March 12 editorial (“

It is a screed that defames both former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders. By the way, the former vice president was not an “aide,” as the editorial cavalierly calls him. He was a fairly elected vice president.

This piece reveals complete disrespect for both American voters and the two remaining Democratic presidential candidates. Both men and their former competitors are better qualified to be the president of the United States than President Donald Trump is.

Shame on you, writer.

Is the Herald now practicing yellow journalism?

Millions of citizens in this country will vote blue no matter who in November. Minute by minute, President Trump sows chaos, corrodes our democratic institutions and, importantly and sadly, despite an inexcusably late formation of a respected medical team, has no credibility in his confusing, contradictory rhetoric on the pandemic.

Despite my dislike of the man, I wanted him to be a leader to be able to deal with our extremely serious problems. I am deeply disappointed, as so many of us are. He has thoroughly exhausted us with his continuous lies that inform his ignorant, antediluvian, anti-science rants. President Trump is unfit to be the president.

So yes, those of us who recognize his many dangerous and catastrophic failings will vote for Sanders or Biden; either is a profile of sanity and stability. Our democracy depends on it.
