Letters: Hickenlooper’s green, bipartisan and real

In her March 4 letter, Kathy Fackler calls Sen. Cory Gardner “

According to 538.com, Gardner has voted with Trump 90% of the time. His voting record includes exposing waterways to invasive species through the Vessel Incidental Discharge Act, opening up the pristine Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling, and voting to repeal the Methane and Waste Prevention Rule – which was embraced by industry and green groups alike!

Fackler also praises Rep. Scott Tipton for his green record. This glosses over the bill he introduced on the Thompson Divide which The Denver Post reported to be “written largely by an energy company that is also Tipton’s largest campaign contributor.”

Colorado deserves better than greenwashing politicians who only find time for bipartisanship just before an election.

If you want a true bipartisan, what about Colorado’s former governor and Senate hopeful, John Hickenlooper? In 2014, he demonstrated this virtue by bringing together the oil industry and green advocates to craft groundbreaking methane regulations. Hickenlooper was forged by the fiercely independent and deeply purple state of Colorado. If you are looking for green and bipartisan, you need look no further.
