Letters: Imagine what it can do if you vote Yes

Our democracy is in trouble and needs some major reforms. So many of those reforms have to happen in Washington, and we can’t expect that to happen anytime soon. But there’s one major thing we can do right here in Colorado – pass Proposition 113, the National Popular Vote.

The National Popular Vote reforms the Electoral College so that every vote counts and the presidential candidate whowins the most popular votes actually wins the election. States control the Electoral College, so states can implement the reforms. Colorado has already done that by joining the National Popular Vote.

Proposition 113 asks the voters of our state to approve of that decision. I am very excited about what it will eventually do. Instead of second-place candidates winning the presidency, the National Popular Vote will mean the candidate who gets the most popular votes throughout the country will win, period.

I urge you to vote Yes on Proposition 113, the National Popular Vote, this fall.
