Letters: Let’s compromise on train, protect forest

I was happily surprised to hear that the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad has mostly been retrofitted to burn diesel fuel.

However, one train remains coal-burning and is endangering our beautiful public forest. We can’t afford to have another fire like in 2018, especially during the current drought, just for local tourist dollars.

Let’s compromise and keep the trains running in diesel and our public forests intact.
