Letters: LPEA increases rates to save you money

Thank you to everyone in our community for staying at home, social distancing and wearing face coverings when necessary. You are protecting yourself, our health care workers, first responders and our community.

I would also like to thank our current LPEA board of directors for the unanimous decision to hire Jessica Matlock, the new CEO, and for its fiscally responsible decisions in moving LPEA forward.

We now have the opportunity to continue moving LPEA forward by voting to keep two board members, Guinn Unger and Rachel Landis, and voting for Doug Fults. Guinn, Rachel and Doug are committed to increasing our reliance on sustainable energy and keeping our rates low, while also keeping our air clean and being fiscally responsible.

The recent rate increase, which was correctly put on hold due to COVID-19 and the economic impact of the stay-at-home order, is to replace aging infrastructure and update energy systems. The structure of the rate increase is to reduce the peak load cost to save us all money. The board vote for this rate increase was unanimous.

Please vote in the LPEA Election and vote for Guinn Unger, Rachel Landis and Doug Fults. Let’s keep moving toward clean energy and lower rates.
