Medical care and how to pay for it is much in the news. However, when we are sick, our primary concern is the quality of care we receive.
Our experiences at three hospitals in Colorado are noteworthy.
Most recently, my husband was a patient at Mercy twice in two weeks. From the first encounter with nurses and physicians and all ancillary staff from the emergency room to discharge from a room on a medical floor, the staff was kind and professional.
One notable difference from other hospitals is the attention from the physical therapy department.
Within a day of admission, a physical therapist came to evaluate stability and mobility. The PT team attended daily and provided good information for a safe return to functioning at home as well as monitoring walking and strength.
This protocol has been followed on several previous admissions to Mercy over the course of two years. We observed this valuable service as a stark contrast from two large medical centers in Colorado where physical therapy visits were rarely available.
