My wife has medical problems that are unrelated to COVID-19, but she cannot find a doctor who will safely see her in the next month! No, she does not want to wait in the car while the overbooked office calls her in. No, she does not want to wait in a waiting room where only some people wear a mask. Some of her problems are orthopedic, and she has an appointment for those. But it is about 20 miles away. If I drive her, I have to wait in the car. They won’t allow me in the waiting room if I wear a hazmat suit. And she has some sort of upper respiratory problem, small but pesky. Her GP doesn’t do phone diagnosis anymore, and doesn’t see patients in the office, either.
From what I read, Durango is a fairly safe place regarding COVID-19. Good! But what about all the other illnesses people have? How do we get treatment? We have great insurance and the ability to pay anything that isn’t covered (there usually isn’t). Still, she can’t get proper treatment here. What do we do? Move?
