Letters: Opposing ‘Chief’ sign is PC run amok

Strange that now that Black Lives Matter is active in Durango, the Herald thinks that the “Chief” has to go (“

First, it’s on private property, Meets all the silly hysterical society and city building codes. Leave it alone.

I was born here, with family residences in La Plata County and Durango since the late 1800s. We have lived with Natives, Latinos, Italians, Germans, ranchers, farmers, miners, loggers and who knows who else. Not once did I look at the “Chief” or any other sign or statue or meme with ill will at heart or that they are indicators of systemic racism.

Someone seems to be offended by everything. We will have no history, no art, no opinions, just a lovely little city full of angry socialists bowing to the Man.

Your own survey showed 73% want the sign to stay but you lead an article with 1,400 people calling for “Chief” to be taken down.

Is the railroad, the Strater or Starbucks next?

Oh, I forgot, Starbucks has already been sent packing. This is PC gone amok.
