Ballot Issue 6A passed in Bayfield with a 58% to 42% approval. This clear margin speaks to the priorities of the Pine River Valley community.
I would be remiss if I didn’t thank a few people for their hard work in making this happen: Cathy Enns, campaign manager, and Brenda Marshall, assistant director.
I also want to thank some of our great local institutions, including Southwest Ag, Pine River Rotary Club and The Durango Herald. The Herald has been steadfast and supportive in their coverage of the Pine River Library.
With the passage of 6A, our work has just begun. Starting in January, the library will resume serving our patrons on Sundays and add weekday and Saturday hours. Our programs will remain robust and our hard-working staff will expand opportunities to serve our community. Our collections will grow and our technology will be updated. Building maintenance issues will be addressed.
We are interested in finding new ways to collaborate and serve our community, especially those who voted No. We want to make your library meaningful to you in ways that we can explore together. Please come join our community of learners.
