I urge passage of the repeal of the Gallagher Amendment to prevent additional tax burdens being pushed onto small businesses, farms and ranches. Gallagher has outlived its usefulness and it is time to remove its outdated fiscal role from our state constitution. The rise in local property values has shifted the burden to nonresidential properties. This repeal is a bipartisan effort to save local businesses from paying a greater share of Colorado’s property taxes at a time when many can least afford it.
