In his Aug. 28 letter, Ray Scott of Grand Junction alleges that Senate candidate and former Gov. John Hickenlooper has “no regard for the Western Slope.” (“
Scott glosses over several of the former governor’s notable achievements, which brought benefits to the Western Slope. In March 2018, Hickenlooper signed a rural broadband bill into law – a high priority of the Hickenlooper administration, setting the state on a path to reach 100% broadband coverage by the end of this year.
Hickenlooper regularly visits Western Slope communities, and while Scott claims that Sen. Cory Gardner represents all of Colorado, the current senator famously goes years at a time without hosting a single town hall. This November, the choice for the Western Slope is clear.
