A socialist is one who believes the role of government is to shape the nation according to desired cultural or economic values.
A hallmark of socialist leaders is they proclaim they will Make America Great.
According to our Founders, our president must never be allowed enough power to Make America Great.
Some socialists believe that a good government will provide health care for all citizens. Other socialists believe a good government enforces a culture which allows only men and women to marry. Still other socialists want government to dictate how and where businesses operate, perhaps imposing tariffs on businesses which import products from out-of-favor nations.
Socialists want to shape the nation using government force.
Government operatives, unlike private citizens, can use force to get their way.
Our Founders foresaw the temptation to justify use of force to shape the nation. They allowed the government only limited powers. They added the ability to impeach the president in the event of “high crimes and misdemeanors” – a term of art from old-time Britain, which has nothing to do with crime.
It gives the Legislature the obligation to remove a president who claims the office gives him the authority to Make America Great.
American exceptionalism occurred because we the people were “mostly” left to ourselves.
Defining “mostly” is messy, difficult and demanding. It requires sacrifice, tolerance and courage.
When we private citizens do the hard work, and the particular person who is president is almost irrelevant, America is at its greatest.
