Letters: Stimulus payments support drug habits

Unfortunately, it took a deadly virus to turn our world upside down – and for La Plata and Montezuma counties to finally get Colorado TV news stations!

We’ve been here over 20 years, getting our news from New Mexico, as their foster children.

We didn’t know about the Colorado governor’s stay-at-home order, but did get an alert from New Mexico on theirs via my cellphone!

I’m sure we weren’t the only ones who finally got the belated news.

Now that we finally have three Denver TV stations, it was great to see and hear our governor put forth his decisions to only open essential businesses, that included liquor stores and marijuana dispensaries!

Was this decision based on lack of sleep, or knowing big bucks would soon be headed toward tax revenues?

The latest news had an interview with a marijuana dispensary saying business was up 48%.

I’m sure most of it was medicinal use. What a crock. He went on to say customers were spending their stimulus money.

I thought these dollars were to help people with food and keeping a roof over your head, not supporting drug habits?
