City Councilor Barbara Noseworthy, working with Durango’s Compañeros, asked for help getting food and other supplies for people who had lost their jobs due to the pandemic and had no resources.
I was glad to donate some PBJ and canned goods, but then thought of shampoo, soap, shaving cream and toiletries that are less essential than food but difficult to do without.
I called the Strater Hotel and asked if they could donate any of these items. Yes, they answered.
I expected to pick up a bag of maybe 20 hotel-size lotions, shampoos and conditioners, but waiting at the Strater desk were six boxes of high-quality items: Yes, lotion, shampoo and conditioner ,but also shaving cream, razors, swabs, body wash, bar soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes and more.
Thank you, Strater staff, for assembling everything – and thanks to the Barkers for your generous donation.
