There is little to be gained from entering into a conversation with someone who makes a flawed argument, but not responding implies that Piuma is correct in his assumptions and facts in the case.
For example, Piuma claims Joe Biden raped Reade, and that she made reports to her superiors in the U.S. Senate and filed a police report about the alleged incident. Given these facts, Piuma complains that the #MeToo crowd is guilty of hypocrisy in choosing to believe other women (such as those who have accused Donald Trump of assault and harassment) but not Reade.
I understand the point Piuma makes about hypocrisy. But I would also note that Piuma ignores that she says she did not use the term “sexual assault” in the complaint she says she filed with the Senate.
In claims of sexual misconduct, I believe women’s voices should be heard and respected. But, like Biden, I also believe that the person being accused has the right to have complaints be thoroughly investigated. I know this to be Biden’s position because the Herald has covered this story, both in AP news reporting and on the opinion page.
