I have lived in Durango for 20 years and for the most part have experienced local people who care about each other and have ethics and morals. The good outweighs the bad.
Lately, I have been ashamed, confused and disappointed in the behavior of some people as I have read in letters to the editor. It is scientifically proven masks are needed! It is unethical and disrespectful to not be willing to take simple precautions such as covering your nose and mouth with a mask and safely distancing yourself.
What benefit does anyone get from encouraging the public to not care about taking easy, evidenced-based precautions?
It seems until you or someone you know contracts this unfortunate disease, people might slip into self-centered, ego-driven reckless behavior. It is an invisible enemy.
