Letters: This anti-Trump rhetoric is destructive

The 2015 announcement that Donald Trump would run for president set off a series of events that will have far-reaching effects on our political system.

His opponent was not necessarily the best the Democratic Party had to offer and was running for Barack Obama’a third term. Looking at the current crop of progressive candidates, it looks like the Dems didn’t learn their lesson in 2016.

The campaign and his ultimate election has exposed a cabal of career politicians, entrenched bureaucrats and a biased press. Were the whistleblower rules changed to allow secondhand accounts? When Nixon and Clinton were impeached, there was a vote to proceed in the House of Representatives. Not so under Nancy Pelosi’s rule. Constitutional experts are already questioning this move by the Speaker of the House.

You have to wonder why the Democratic-ruled House of Representatives is ignoring the people’s business in order to go after a president they despise. How much is this going to cost on top of the Mueller $24 million witch hunt?

The media (including The Durango Herald) have been less than honest in their presentation of the facts and the printing of editorials by anti-Trump writers living in the beltway bubble.

The hate and vitriol toward Trump and those that supported him by Democrats and some Republicans has changed the whole political landscape for years to come. And not in a good way.
