Letters: This too would be better than that bridge

I have been reading about the bump-outs on Main Avenue all summer. It’s wonderful to have people outside enjoying the offerings of Durango’s eateries. I’m also pleased it is helping to boost business. Let’s face it, though, most of them don’t look very good.

Now that people have been injured in them, I think City Council should think carefully about bringing them back in the same form next summer.

Consider a more permanent and safer design. Grand Junction has a Main Street designed to slow traffic and provide beautiful areas with seating, trees and art. Please look at their model and consider something similar for Durango. Dare I suggest this might be more beneficial than the 32nd Street overpass?
