Why am I not wearing a mask? (Letters, April 29: “
Because I believe this whole thing is blown way out of proportion to its reality.
It is a flu that affects at most 5% to 10% of the population, yet the government is forcing the other 90% to 95% of the population to radically change their lives and jeopardize their livelihood.
If you are at high risk for underlying health reasons, you should take precautions. The mask, scarves and other coverings are generally ineffective, especially as worn by most people.
As we do more testing, we are going to realize a large percentage of the population has been exposed with little to no effect. This is government Kabuki theater much like the TSA after 9/11; we know who the terrorist were/are yet we continue to hassle grandparents flying from Tucson to Omaha for a decade.
Be careful of what you are giving up for this so-called safety.
