If the city wants to spend over $3 million to enhance the river trail, why not use that money to make the entire river trail a better experience for everyone? Spending that money for one unneeded eyesore would be a waste. It could be better spent on new signs reminding bikers to slow down and announce their approach from behind pedestrians. Signs reminding people to keep dogs on a leash would be helpful. Or how about year-round toilets in all parks and elsewhere along the trail? There are so many better ways to spend the money. We don’t need another ugly structure in Durango.
