I will be voting for Marsha Porter-Norton for La Plata County commissioner. I believe her leadership skills and long-term efforts working in many capacities in La Plata County make her the right choice moving forward.
My support is based on a friendship of over 20 years where I have witnessed her inspired leadership with extraordinary vision based on a well-grounded ethos in Southwest Colorado. Marsha is a bright, energetic and independent thinker who spent the early part of her campaign holding listening sessions (over 50 sessions) with residents from all areas of the county.
As we move forward from an epic upheaval in our society, we must look to the ingenuity of individuals, profit and nonprofit organizations, and government at all levels to build a stronger county. Marsha’s skills in listening, facilitation and collaboration will help find sustainable solutions and a thriving, diverse economy for all. We will need strong leaders like Marsha to move us forward, including working to increase good jobs, affordable housing, vital county services, public health and safety, clean energy and smart growth.
