I recently bought some wood pellets from our Home Depot. The price had gone up – they were 20% higher than previously.
When I was unloading them at home, I noticed they were made in La Crete, Alberta. I looked La Crete up on Google Maps and saw that it is 1,900 miles due north of Durango.
I suppose shipping makes up a lot of the 20% price increase.
With all of the dead wood due to bugs and disease in the western U.S., you’d think that Home Depot could find a closer source of pellets than northern Canada.
