I am writing about the news story “
Townhomes are attached to other townhomes. Detached townhomes are called houses.
With the proposed priority on affordability, the townhomes run $540,000 to $640,000. Even for Durango, that jumps past the affordability label. The development does not qualify for Durango’s Fair Share Housing Program.
For sustainability, there are roofs where the owners can buy and install their own solar panels. For sustainability, the homes are built to run entirely on electricity. And, if the owners have jobs in town, they could choose to walk to town, again making every home in Durango yet more sustainable. The article mentions that an acre will be preserved for open space, and a shed.
I’m wondering why we need a planning commission if all of this slipped past all of them.
