Letters: Why move the doc’s office there?

I am hoping Centura Health will listen to their own doctors and patients regarding the relocation of the north Main Avenue office of Centura Health Physician Group Internal Medicine to the Horse Gulch Complex.

After receiving a letter of notification, I inquired about the move, since Horse Gulch is a nightmare. It is close to a very busy intersection off of Highways 3 and 550 that competes with the Sonic Drive-In and the bike trailhead to Horse Gulch.

The complex has inadequate parking and the tiered levels make it challenging for the elderly or injured. In addition, not all entrances allow access to the entire building.

The current location offers less congested parking and direct access to the doctor’s office without stairs, ramps or a long walk. The doctors love their north Main location as do patients, but their input seems to have fallen on deaf ears.

As an architect, I believe the Horse Gulch Complex is an ill-conceived project that should have been constructed in another location. Centura should not force their doctors, support staff and patients to move to this facility, subjecting everyone to the many failings of the location when they need medical treatment.
