Ongoing events (youth)

Mondays and Fridays, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.: Groove and Grow. Music, finger-plays, games, and more for infants and toddlers and their caregivers.

Mondays, 3:30-5 p.m.: Gamer Club: Come and celebrate all forms of gaming, table-top and electronic, all ages.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.: Crazy 8s Math Club. Crazy 8s is a recreational after-school math club that helps kids enjoy the math behind their favorite activities! We’re nothing like your usual math club. With Crazy 8s kids will build glow-in-the-dark structures, crack secret spy codes and play games like Toilet Paper Olympics. Sponsored by Bedtime Math Foundation. Tuesdays are for geared for grades K-2, Wednesdays for grades 3-5.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.: Code Club. Learn computer programming skills through a series of tutorials and projects. Kids ages 8-18 can work towards building websites, video games, phone apps, animations and more, all the while, learning how to become better problem solvers and critical thinkers.

Wednesdays, 10:30 to 11 a.m.: Little Readers Storytime. Stories, songs, activities, and crafts for infants through preschoolers, but all ages welcome.

Thursday and Fridays, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.: Teen Time. After-school fun and snacks.

Ongoing events (adult)

Mondays, 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.: Morning Meditation for all. Drop-in, free, no experience necessary. Learn techniques to increase focus and reduce stress.

Mondays, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m: Yogalates*. A perfect combo of yoga and Pilates principles.

Mondays, 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Open Art Group. Come paint with local artist Susan Brightman. The library will be offering a weekly opportunity to paint in a group setting. Bring that painting you’ve been working on or start afresh. It’s always wonderful to get feedback from others.

Tuesdays, 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.: Yoga for All*. With a focus on proper alignment and modifications, but all levels welcome.

Thursdays, 8 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.: Yoga Flow*. Postures put together to create yoga sequences.

*Those interested in these classes should join as a walk-in. Classes are $6 for individual classes, or punch passes are available for a discount.

April 8, 10:30 a.m.: Spanish Conversation Hour. Join us for an hour of conversation en Español. Come practice your Spanish in an informal setting. All ages and language levels welcome.

April 8, 6 p.m.: Classic Movie Monday: Blue, White and Perfect (1942)

April 10, 10:30 a.m.: Death Cafe: A Death Cafe is a time and place where people come to share food, drink tea or coffee, and discuss death openly and honestly.

April 10, 2 p.m.: BookMarks Book Club: The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo

April 9, 5:45 p.m.: Living Room Conversations. Join us for a facilitated discussion using the “Living Room Conversation” model.

April 9, 6:00 p.m.: Mindfulness Basics. This experiential class will teach you a variety of mindfulness techniques and how to use them in your everyday life. It will also examine the scientific evidence as to why and how mindfulness is so beneficial. Mindfulness coach Erin Easton will lead the class. April 17, 6:15 p.m.: Regular monthly meeting of the Library’s Board of Trustees.

April 18, 9 a.m.: Donuts with the Director. What does your library look like? Come chat with Library Director Shelley Walchak about the library and how it can better meet your needs. Free donuts will be provided.

April 18, 10 a.m.: Friends of the Library Meeting. Regular monthly meeting of the Friends of the Library

April 19, 1 p.m.: Crafternoons. It’s a crafting potluck! Bring an activity and supplies to share and join in communal crafting.

April 19, 7 p.m.: Sounds True Trio Concert. Durango’s Sounds True Trio will play a free jazz, soul, and R&B performance at the library.

April 20, 8:45 a.m.: Saturday Yoga for All. Start the new year of feeling balanced and calm with this special Saturday yoga class taught by instructor Colleen Theobald. Focus on proper alignment and modifications but all levels welcome. Ages 13 and up. $6.

April 22, 6 p.m.: Classic Movie Monday. Mr. Moto’s Gamble (1938)

April 24, 10:30 a.m: Conscious Elder Wisdom Circle. This is the beginning of an ongoing gathering of elder men and women who understand that a lifetime of experience, lessons learned and knowledge gained, gives them wisdom worth sharing with others. Elders and soon-to-be-elders are welcome to participate.

April 26, 6 p.m.: Fresh from the Theaters: Aquaman. Join us for a recently released film fresh from the theater screens for free at the library. Free popcorn will be provided.

April 29, 6 p.m.: Classic Movie Monday. The Hound of the Baskervilles (1939).

April 30, 6 p.m.: Bears in Your Backyard. Lean how to peacefully co-exist with black bears. Presented by Bear Smart Durango.

May 1, 6 p.m.: Building Your Garden Soil. If you build it, they will come. Get some helpful tips on how we as gardeners can create a thriving soil in an otherwise challenging environment. With Darrin Parameter, County Director and Horticulture Agent for the La Plata County CSU Extension Office.

May 2, 7 p.m.: Community Acoustic Music Jam. An acoustic music jam open to all levels and ages. Bring a song or two to lead or just play along. The first Thursday of each month.

May 3, 6 p.m.: Family First Friday: Game Night. There will be card games, board games, and family games of all kinds. Play old favorites and learn new ones, including Candy Land, Exploding Kittens, Sushi GO!, Chutes & Ladders, Yahtzee, Connect Four, and more. Feel free to bring your own favorites with you to share or just come as you are and play one of the library’s games.

Mondays, 4 p.m.: Anime Club. Join us for Anime Club for an Anime showing and a cultural activity. Due to the content of the shows, all participants must be in middle school or older.

Tuesdays, 4 p.m.: Inklings book club. Join third- to fifth-grade Inklings for snacks and reading.

Tuesdays in April, 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.: Art Class: Drawing Exercises. This art class is focused on drawing. Pre-register at the front desk. There is a fee of $20.

Wednesdays, 10 a.m.: Storytime. Join stories, songs, puppets and more that encourage early-literacy-skill development in young children.

Wednesdays, 2 p.m.: Teen cafe for grades 6-12. A place to play games, do homework, make crafts, relax with friends and have fun.

Wednesdays, 2 pm.: MakerSpace. Join us for a fun and creative activity in ICL’s Maker Space.

Thursdays, 4 p.m.: Kidz Club. Elementary kids are invited to join us for Kidz Klub. Science experiments, games, art, snacks, and exploring are just a few of the things you can expect to experience in Kidz Klub.

Saturdays, 11 a.m.: MakerSpace. Join us for a fun and creative activity in ICL’s Maker Space.

Sundays 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.: ICL Open Maker Space and Idea Lab. C’mon down to the ICL to make your ideas come to form. We have equipment to make slide images digital and VHS tape to digital. Not to mention, we have a 3D printer, information on patents, and much more.

Tuesdays, 1 p.m.: Knitters. Knitters work on projects, socialize and share ideas. Open to all.

Tuesdays in April, 5:30 p.m.: Growing Readers Together. Are you, or do you know, a childcare provider for family, friends, or neighbors? ICL has received a grant called Growing Readers Together, that allows us to offer five free classes for childcare providers that include training and take-home materials and supplies. Thursdays, 10 a.m.: Career and technical drop-in support.

Thursdays in April, 5:30 p.m.: Intro to Mindfulness and Meditation Class

Fridays, 10 a.m.: Open art studio. Artists gather to work on projects and socialize with other like-minded people. All artists are welcome. Pat Knight will be available for assistance.

Sundays, first and third of the month, 2 p.m.: ICL Writers’ Group. Join our friendly group of writers.
