Life-Long Learning Lecture Series to present talk about masculinity

The Life-Long Learning Lecture Series at Fort Lewis College will present “Advice from the S/He Shed: A Re-Evaluation of What it Means to be Masculine” at 7 p.m. Thursday in Room 130 of Noble Hall.

FLC history professor Michael Martin will look at how society understands and expects masculinity to be performed and attributed, primarily to men, but also to women. Why is it somehow “copyrighted” to males only? How does it apply to multiple genders, sexes and sexualities in society today? How can it help us to better understand ourselves and the many relationships we engage in – professionally, personally, publicly and privately?

Cosponsored by the Office of the President and the Professional Associates of Fort Lewis College, the Life-Long Learning Lecture Series aims to enrich the intellectual life of the college and the community by offering free presentations about a wide variety of subjects.

The Thursday evening programs are open to all.
