Lightning fries Broncos’ TV outlet

Game rerouted to KASA stations in Durango

Gotta’ love this weather.

It seems a lightening strike caused an outage of a broadcast tower used by KRQE in Albuquerque, leaving local Denver Broncos fans in the dark and freaking out all over the place during a game with the New England Patriots.

KRQE assignment manager Katheryn Sturtevant said while crews are working in the problem, for now, they have a solution.

“What we’ve done instead is switched CBS to be on FOX, so Channel 2 will have the game.”

The game also is available in high-definition on channel 508 on Durango’s Charter Communications cable system.

While some joked it was intentional – a conspiracy to torture Bronco fans, Sturtevant said it was an act of nature.

“A lightening strike hit our tower up there, and our crew is up there. It’s really bad,” she said.

Charter Communications is also reporting the outage.
