Lights will shine at San Ignacio Fiesta

It's time for San Ignacio Fiesta! This is the 118th annual event in Ignacio.

The 73rd annual parade will be held at 10 a.m. July 28, with registration at Ignacio High School. This year's parade theme is "Let Your Light Shine."

After the parade on Saturday, events continue with the 23rd annual horseshoe tournament, live music by It's Jose, food, games, contests and family-friendly fun in Shoshone Park. The annual Southern Ute Community Action duck race fundraiser is that afternoon. Tickets are $10 each and are available at Southwest Ag and the SUCAP building in Ignacio.

La Plata Independent Youth Performing Arts will have vendors, a salsa competition, and other events at the Ignacio ELHI building next to Shoshone Park, and Ignacio Community Library is hosting a rummage sale.

Farmer's Fresh Market will hold its annual brisket cookoff, as well, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The Fiesta dance is from 8 p.m. to midnight at Sky Ute Casino Resort, which will feature music by Royal Brown and Joker's Wild and the crowning of the Fiesta king and queen.

The Queen candidates are D'Vondra Garcia, Grace Gonzales and Yllana Howe. King Candidates are Jace Carmeneros and Michael Merritt. The annual raffle will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday after the Fiesta Mass and dinner at St. Ignatius Church. For raffle tickets, call 563-4241 or 749-6830.
