Lights will shine at San Ignacio Fiesta

The 118th annual San Ignacio Festival will be held this weekend in Ignacio.

The 73rd annual parade will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. This year’s parade theme is “Let Your Light Shine.”

After the parade Saturday, events will continue with the 23rd annual horseshoe tournament, live music by It’s Jose, food, games, contests and family-friendly fun in Shoshone Park. The annual Southern Ute Community Action duck race fundraiser will be held in the afternoon. Tickets are $10 each and are available at Southwest Ag and the SUCAP building in Ignacio.

La Plata Independent Youth Performing Arts will have vendors, a salsa competition, and other events at the Ignacio ELHI building next to Shoshone Park, and Ignacio Community Library will host a rummage sale.

Farmer’s Fresh Market will hold its annual brisket cookoff, as well, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Fiesta dance will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday at Sky Ute Casino Resort. Music will be by Royal Brown and Joker’s Wild, and the Fiesta king and queen will be crowned.

The queen candidates are D’Vondra Garcia, Grace Gonzales and Yllana Howe. King candidates are Jace Carmeneros and Michael Merritt. The annual raffle will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday after the Fiesta Mass and dinner at St. Ignatius Church.
