Joyce Knoll of Ignacio and Sue Ann Gaherty of Bayfield received awards at the Bayfield Lions Club appreciation dinner on May 26. Knoll received the Anne Sullivan Award from the Colorado Lions Foundation. Every Christmas, she makes flannel pajamas and packages them with winter clothing to give to needy children in the area.
Gaherty received the Melvin Jones Award from the Lions Club International. This award is named after the founder of Lions in 1917 and is the Lions' most prestigious award. She has been involved in virtually every Bayfield Lions Club program and project for the last 12 years.
