Liquor battle may end inconveniently

The drive to have full-strength beer, wine and eventually liquor sold in grocery stores is being hailed as a convenience and something the average consumer wants.

Given all the lobbyists in the Capital, who were not hired by your average shopper but are trying to get a bill through the legislature that would greatly profit grocery chains and wholesalers, it would be much too easy to sound cynical here.

My question is, if more beer, wine and liquor are to be allowed in stores to take up aisles and more space in coolers, what items would disappear to make room for it? What about the items that folks now shop for and expect to find in “grocery” stores? Where is the convenience there?

“Darling, I couldn’t find the ingredients I needed for my recipe you used to love, but to hell with it... we’ll just drink dinner.”
