Seminar examines Medicare issues

A Medicare Supplement Seminar will be provided by Janice Moore from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday in Room No. 3 at the

Individuals are asked to text or call Janice at 749-0206 to make sure a seat is saved for the event, and to inform her of specific questions that pertain to their individual health care situation.

Attendees will learn about various supplemental choices, their premium cost, and may ask questions.

The workshop will also discuss exactly who is targeted during the Medicare Supplement Open Enrollment period, which runs from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7.

Genealogical Society to meet at Saturday

The Southwest Colorado Genealogical Society will hold its next meeting at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the La Plata County Historical Society’s Animas Museum, 3065 West Second Avenue in Durango.

After the meeting, Patty Joy will give her presentation “Quilts: What they can tell you about your family.” After the presentation, there will be a Summer Social for members and guests. A salad bar and pot luck will be offered with the Genealogical Society providing salad greens, dressings, rolls, cold drinks, paper plates, and utensils.

Members with last names A through L are asked to bring their favorite salad topping. Members with last names M through Z are asked to bring a dessert. For additional information please go to www.swcogen.org.

Solar-powered homes wanted for tour

Four Corners Office for Resource Efficiency (4CORE) is requesting solar home nominations and sponsors for the 2016 Solar Home Tour, which will take place Oct. 8.

The agency is seeking energy-efficient, active- or passive-solar homes to feature on the tour.

The solar homes should be innovative and help inspire others to think about energy efficiency and make the change to solar energy.
