Participants will learn to tie a woolly bugger and a San Juan worm during the class. Participants are asked to bring a vice if possible, otherwise, they will be provided with one.

There is a $10 materials fee, and registration is required.

Call the library at 884-2222, ext. 510, or stop by the information desk, to register.

Botanical society to host ceremony

The Durango Botanical Society will host a grand opening ceremony for its new “Crevice Garden Along the Trail” at 8:30 a.m. July 15.

There will be award presentations and a ribbon-cutting. Refreshments will be served.

The society’s demonstration garden will be presented with the Golden Shovel Award, the highest honor given by the Plant Select program, in recognition of superior garden design, vision and educational outreach.

The Library Advisory Board and Friends of the Library donated $10,300 to the crevice garden project. The botanical society is asking the community to match these funds by contributing at www.durangobotanicalsociety.com or its crowdfunding website, http://bit.ly/29e5vJo (the site will launch July 12).
